The Menard Center is the premier indoor sports and event facility in the Mat-Su Valley.  Show cased on 60 wooded and beautiful acres, the Menard Center at 104,000 square feet, includes an NHL-size ice arena, an indoor artificial turf court, (the MTA Turf Arena) , a running/walking track, batting cage with pitching machine, three community meeting rooms, and commercial kitchen. On the complex grounds:  one mile paved walking trail around the perimeter of the property.

Kids to Parks Day

Kids to Parks Day May 19th 2018!!
One of the many highlights to visiting and living in Wasilla is our various parks and recreational facilities!
Bring the Kiddos to one of our parks: Nunley Park, Newcomb Park, Iditapark, Carter Park, Bumpus, Lake Lucile Park.
Some of the amenities offered at the various parks: skateboard park, volleyball courts,basketball courts, bmx track, outdoor amphitheater, play grounds, ball fields, bike trails, pavilions, dog park, and camping facilities.

City of Wasilla Proclamation Recognizing Kids to Parks Day

WHEREAS, May 19th, 2018 is the eighth Kids to Parks Day organized and launched by the National Park Trust, held annually on the third Saturday of May; and
WHEREAS, Kids to Park Day empowers kids and encourages families to get outdoors and visit America's parks; and
WHEREAS, it is important to introduce a new generation to our nation's parks; and
WHEREAS, we should encourage children to lead a more active lifestyle to combat the issues of childhood obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia; and
WHEREAS, Kids to Parks Day is open to all children and adults across the country to encourage a large and diverse group of participants; and
WHEREAS, Kids to Parks Day will broaden children's appreciation for nature and outdoors; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Bert L. Cottle, Mayor of the City of Wasilla, do hereby proclaim May 19, 2018, as Kids to Parks Day and urge residents to make time to take the children in their lives to a neighborhood, state or national park.
