Mission: Mat-Su Borough School District develops citizens for a global society by inspiring students to think, learn, achieve, and care.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District is located approximately 35 miles north of Anchorage in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in an area commonly known as the “Valley.” The district spans approximately 25,000 square miles, an area larger than the entire state of West Virginia.

The MBSBD is home to 42 schools ranging in enrollments from 12 to more than 1,200 students. With a district wide enrollment of approximately 16,380 students, Mat-Su is the second largest school District in Alaska--behind Anchorage.

Our student population is diverse—from various socio-economic, cultural, and language backgrounds. We welcome and embrace our diversity.

The educational facilities include 21 elementary schools, five middle schools, and six high schools. Additionally, the District hosts four charter schools, and five alternative education schools which offer a range of specialized programs. The MSBSD has educational opportunities available for adults through the career and technical education programs and preschool for students with special needs.
