Board Type: Quasi-Judicial/Advisory  

Function: To provide advice on matters pertaining to land use/development and to hear and decide permit decisions pursuant to WMC 2.60.010.

Composition: The commission consists of 5 members.

Residency Requirement: All members shall be residents of the city of Wasilla.

Financial Disclosure: All members must file an Alaska Public Offices Commission, Public Official Financial Disclosure Statement within 30 days of taking office; annually by March 15; and within 90 days of leaving office.

Appointment: Commission members are appointed by the Mayor and require confirmation by the City Council.

Term: 3 years, unless appointed to fill the remainder of a term. Terms expire on December 31.

Term Limits: Yes. A person may not serve on the commission for more than two consecutive, full terms without a break in service for at least one full year after serving two consecutive, full terms.

Chair: Selected by commission.

Compensation:  A flat rate of $125.00 per month provided the commissioner attends at least one regular planning commission meeting per month.

Meetings: Regular meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, with the exception of December when the meeting is the second Tuesday of the month only, at 6 p.m. at Wasilla City Hall, Council Chambers, 290 E Herning Avenue. Special meetings may be called by the chairperson or at the request of two commission members. Meetings are noticed on the Meetings Portal, City calendar, at Wasilla City Hall, and in the Frontiersman newspaper.
