Mayor Glenda D. Ledford has been a resident of Alaska since 1986; successively acting as a fervent civil servant in her community. Mayor Ledford has been a small business owner since 1990 and a Managing Cosmetologist for over 34 years. As the prior honored owner of Glenda’s Salon and Training Center, she has educated many of the professionals in the industry today who are making a living and providing for their families in our community. Mayor Ledford performed a crucial role during her eight (8) years serving on the State Board of Barbers and Hairdressers whereby ensuring development and stability in the Alaska workforce. Mayor Ledford served on the City of Wasilla Planning Commission for six (6) years and subsequently served as a City of Wasilla Council Member from January 2017 through October 2020. During her time on City Council Mayor Ledford acted as Deputy Mayor from July 2019 through October 2020. Mayor Ledford is the current President of the Alaska Conference of Mayors (ACoM); proudly serves on the Alaska Workforce Investment Board (AWIB); and is an active member of the Pre-MPO Policy Board for the Mat-Su Valley.
