2025 Regular Election

  • The City of Wasilla will hold its annual regular election on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. 
  • Council seats E and F will be on the ballot.
  • Ballot questions and propositions appearing on the ballot must be adopted by August 1, 2025.

Filing for Office

  • Candidate Filing Period: July 21 - August 1, 2025, weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Office of the City Clerk, 290 E Herning Avenue, Wasilla, Alaska. 
  • Candidate filing forms and instructions are scheduled for release on July 16, 2025.

Early, Absentee By-Mail, and Poll Voting 

Qualified voters may vote early or absentee by-mail - deadlines apply, or they may choose to vote at their designated polling location on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Voter Registration

The deadline to register to vote or update your voter registration record to qualify to vote in the 2025 regular election is Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Overview of City Elections

  • Regular Election: Regular elections are held annually on the first Tuesday of October. 
  • Runoff Election: Runoff elections are held if no candidate for mayor receives more than 40 percent of the votes cast in the regular election. If held, the two candidates receiving the greatest number of votes in the regular election will advance to the runoff election.  
  • Special Election: Special elections may be held at least 75 calendar days prior to the date of the election at the call of the city council. Notice of the special election will be made in accordance WMC 4.16.020
  • Ballot questions and propositions may appear on any regular or special election ballot if adopted by the city council or through the initiative, referendum, or recall process.
  • Only qualified voters of the city of Wasilla are eligible to vote in City elections.
