The following offices are scheduled to be filled at the October 7, 2025, regular election:
- Council Seat E (three-year term ending in October 2028)
- Council Seat F (three-year term ending in October 2028)
Instructions on Filing for Office - When and Where to File
To file for office, qualified candidates must submit to the City Clerk’s Office, 290 E Herning Avenue, the following forms during the Candidate Filing period, which is scheduled from July 21 - August 1, 2025. Filings can be submitted on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the City Clerk's Office, 290 E Herning Avenue, Wasilla, AK. (WMC 4.12.030).
- A completed Declaration of Candidacy form.
- The Declaration of Candidacy must be signed by the candidate under notary.
- With valid identification, notary service is available from the City Clerk’s Office.
- The Declaration of Candidacy must be filed in original form. An electronic copy or photocopy will be rejected.
- An Alaska Public Offices Commission, Public Official Financial Disclosure Statement, unless the candidate has a current statement is on file.
Candidate Qualifications
A person is eligible to run for office if the person:
- Is a registered and qualified voter of the city of Wasilla pursuant to WMC 4.08.010.
- Is a resident of the city, or of territory annexed to the city, for one-year immediately prior to the election. Candidates may be required to provide proof of residency as required by the city clerk.
- No person shall serve as mayor or on the city council for more than two consecutive, full terms in office, without a break in service for at least one full year.
- Candidates must comply with campaign reporting requirements as required by law.
A person can only run for one City seat or office. If after filing for office, the candidate chooses to run for a different seat or office, the candidate must submit another Declaration of Candidacy for said seat or office and a Withdrawal of Declaration of Candidacy form of the former seat or office.
