Excludes Mayoral Runoff Elections

An individual who did not file to run for office by the close of the candidate filing period in the regular election, may file to run for City office as a write-in candidate by filing a Letter of Intent accompanied by an Alaska Public Offices Commission, Public Official Financial Disclosure Statement, to the City Clerk's Office, located at 290 E Herning Avenue, Wasilla, by 1:00 p.m. the day before Election Day.

A write-in vote is the writing of the candidate's name with the oval filled in next to the name. A blank space is provided for each race on the ballot for this purpose.

Write-in votes shall be tallied only if the total number of write-in votes for an office exceeds the smallest number of votes cast for a candidate for that office whose name is printed on the ballot. No votes for a write-in candidate may be counted unless that candidate has filed a letter of intent with the clerk in accordance with WMC 4.12.045.
