Do you have computers available for the public?
Yes. Wasilla Public Library has 20 computers with Internet access and Microsoft Word and Excel. You may use a computer for up to 2 hours per person per day. Same day reservations are available for library card holders. Library card holders may sign on with their cards. Visitors may obtain a guest pass to use the computers. Printing is available at .15 cents per page, black and white only.

Do you have free wireless access available for the public?
Yes. Wasilla Public Library has provides free wireless access. Wireless printing is not available. Staff provides limited assistance for basic start up procedures, but is not able to provide technical assistance. Your are responsible for knowing how to configure your own equipment.

How can I get a library card?
Resident Library Cards
To obtain a library card and unrestricted borrowing privileges, an applicant must be a Mat-Su Borough resident or own property in the Mat-Su Borough and must first present a valid picture ID and complete an application form. Cards for children under the age of 18 will be issued only in the presence of and with the signature of a parent or legal guardian. The parent or guardian must meet the same requirements as any adult applicant.

Non-Resident Library Cards
Non-Mat-Su Borough residents may apply for a library card if they regularly visit the Mat-Su Borough or will be staying in the Mat-Su Borough for an extended period of time. An applicant must first present a valid picture ID, complete an application form, and pay the appropriate fee ($10/4 months).  Fees for non-resident cards will be waived for any person who is employed by or volunteers for the City of Palmer, City of Wasilla, or the Matanuska-Susitna Borough or has a library card from a library participating in the Alaska Libraries' Reciprocal Borrowing Program.  Proof of volunteer/employment is required.

Alaska Library Catalog Cards
Cardholders from any library that is a part of the Alaska Library Catalog do not need an additional card to checkout material from the Wasilla Public Library.

If I have lost my card, can I get a replacement?
Yes. Lost cards may be replaced at a charge of $1.

How many library items may I check out?
You may have up to 20 items checked out on your library card.

How long can I keep the items I check out?
Checkout periods are as follows:
• 28 days for most books and audiobooks
• 14 days for new books, TV series, and video games
• 7 days for other videos and DVDs 

Is there a fine for overdue material?
Yes. Overdue fines are calculated at a rate of 25 cents, per item, per day. The maximum fine is $5 per item. Items are considered lost when they are 30 days overdue, at which point the cost of the item is added to the bill. Additionally, a $5 processing fee is then assessed on each item. If the item is returned, the cost of the item is removed from the bill; however, the overdue fees remain. For information on the authority of the library to charge fines and fees, please see City of Wasilla Administrative Policy No. 03-02 and and Wasilla City Code 2.52.040.

Please note: Fee policies vary among libraries in the Alaska Library Catalog. If you borrow an item belonging to another library, the fines will be calculated according to their fee schedule, which is some cases may be as high $1 per day, per item.

Can I return items when the library is not opened?
Yes. There is an outside book drop near the front door of the Library to return items when the Library is closed.

Can I renew my library materials online?
Yes. Log into “My Account” from the library website or the library catalog.

What is my “PIN” number?
When you get a library card, your PIN (or personal identification number) is assigned by staff. You will need this number in addition to your library barcode number to sign on the library catalog. Call the library at 376-5913 x0 to ask for your PIN.
