Library Donations

Wasilla Public Library welcomes gifts of needed material or funds for the purchase of needed material. Donors are encouraged to provide funds for material, so the items may be selected, purchased and processed in accordance with standard public library guidelines for acquisitions. Conditional donations will not be accepted.

Donations of funds should be made payable to the City of Wasilla. At the time of donation, donors will be provided with a receipt of their donation and a copy of this policy. Donations of materials may be made at either circulation desk in the Wasilla Public Library. A receipt for the donated goods will be given to the donor upon request. The library will not appraise the value of a donation. If the donor wishes to use his/her charitable donation as a tax deduction, s/he must consult with their tax advisor.

The library reserves the right to utilize donated items in accordance with collection needs, and cannot accept any items with restrictions attached by the donor. Donated items are considered for the library’s collection according to the same guidelines applied to newly purchased material. If it is determined that the item cannot be used in the collection, it will be added to the used book sale inventory, passed on to another library, or discarded.

The library reserves the right to replace or remove any donated items that cease to be useful to borrowers. The items will be discarded in the same manner as other library material.
