Loan Periods, Renewals, Overdues, Damaged & Lost Items

Loan Periods
You may have up to 20 items checked out on your library card at one time. Loan periods are as follows:
    • 28 day checkout for most books, including audio books
    • 14 day checkout for new books, TV series, and video games
    • 7 day checkout for other videos

Renewals
An item may be renewed one time by either calling us or stopping by during regular business hours, or through your account on our on-line library catalog. Please note: to renew items via our library catalog, you must renew by the due date. Video games cannot be renewed. Also, we are unable to renew the material if it has been requested by another patron.

Items Returned Late
Items returned late are "overdue". Our overdue fines are calculated at the rate of 25 cents per item per day. The maximum overdue fine per item is $5.00.

Damaged Items
Items that are returned damaged will incur a charge of $2 or more, depending upon the extent of the damage. For items that are damaged to the extent that they need to be replaced, as determined by the librarian, the replacement cost of the item and an additional $5.00 administrative fee will be charged. In both cases, items which are overdue will also be charged the appropriate overdue fines; please see "Items Returned Late" for more information.

Lost Items
Items are considered lost once they become 30 days overdue. When an item becomes lost, you are billed for the cost of the item, as well as the $5.00 overdue fine and the $5.00 administrative fee. If the item is returned, the cost of the item will be waived from your record and you will only owe the $5.00 overdue fine.

In the case of books that are out-of-print or difficult to obtain, we reserve the right to charge the replacement cost of the item, including all related charges. Since it will take research to determine whether an item is in or out of print or still available, additional charges may be added to the patron’s record as part of the library’s acquisition process. Should a patron lose an item that is irreplaceable, additional charges may be added to the patron’s record for a comparable item as part of the library’s acquisitions process.
