Caterer's, Special Event, Wine Auction, and Live Event Permits

**NOTE: Beginning 1/1/24 every person who will serve or sell alcohol or check identifications during a permitted event, including nonprofit organization event permits (formally special event permits), will be required to complete an alcohol server education course under AS 04.21.025 before the first day of the permitted event as set forth in AS 04.09.600. **

Alcohol (AMCO) Permits may be submitted to the City of Wasilla Police Department Monday through Friday at the Administrative Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All businesses or organizations who apply for an alcohol event permit must also have a City of Wasilla business license. Please submit your signed application to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board in accordance with their procedures; you may obtain information at: Alaska ABC Board FAQ. Bring in your completed form from the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board along with a diagram of the location of the event to the Wasilla Police Department. There will be a non-refundable processing fee of $35. Expedited permit processing are not currently offered.

All servers/bartenders will have a criminal background check conducted in accordance with AS 04.11.295. The permit may be DENIED for the following reasons:

  •  If any Servers/bartenders used to serve alcoholic beverages
    • Is under a court order or condition of bail, probation, or parole that prohibits the person from consuming or possessing alcoholic beverages;
    • Is under 21 years of age; or
    • Is disqualified due to the person’s criminal record under AS Sec. 04.11.494(b)(9)(e)
      • Fewer than two (2) years have elapsed from the person’s unconditional discharge due to a conviction or adjudication as a delinquent for any of the following offenses or a law or ordinance from another jurisdiction with similar elements:
        • Driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, inhalant, or controlled substance or refusal to submit to a chemical test (1A)
        • A crime involving domestic violence or violating a protective order (1B)
      • Fewer than 5 years have elapsed from the person’s unconditional discharge due to a conviction or adjudication as a delinquent for any of the following offenses or a law or ordinance from another jurisdiction with similar elements:
        • A felony violation or a felony attempt to commit a violation (2A)
        • A misdemeanor violation of or a misdemeanor attempt to violate a provision in this title (2B)
      • Fewer than 10 years have elapsed from the person’s unconditional discharge due to a conviction or adjudication as a delinquent for a felony violation or a felony attempt to violate a provision of this title or a law or ordinance from another jurisdiction with similar elements
  • An excessive quantity of “Calls for Service” for disturbance related activity at the Event or location in the past; WMC 06.16.020.A.3.
  •  At the discretion of the Chief of Police

The completed Permit will then be forwarded to other city departments to confirm compliance with other city requirements as applicable such as:

  • Finance – Business License and Insurance requirement checks
  • Public Works – Park permits
